Team retreat in Chengdu: 3 days

A three-day programme for an overseas team: one protected meeting day, a Sichuan team dinner and time in a teahouse.

Sample three-day Chengdu programme for an overseas team. Start with one protected day for meetings and build the rest around staggered arrivals, a shared Sichuan meal and time for colleagues to talk away from the meeting room.

Three days in Chengdu

Day 1 · Arrivals and welcome. Group airport pickups by arrival window where practical. Leave the afternoon open for check-in and make the welcome dinner optional for anyone arriving late.

Day 2 · Meeting and team dinner. Use the morning for the main session and the afternoon for smaller discussions. Confirm the seating layout, microphones, display connections and any interpretation needs before choosing a room. Plan dinner around dietary requirements and let guests choose their preferred level of spice.

Day 3 · Local time and departures. Consider a short visit to People’s Park and a teahouse for guests with later departures. Choose an indoor option if the weather or the group’s mobility needs make the park impractical.

What to put in the brief

Share the headcount, meeting hours, room setup, arrival windows and dietary or accessibility requirements. Decide whether to keep rooms and meeting space in one hotel or use a separate venue with time set aside for transfers.
